How to apply for Voter’s ID Card online?

Steps to Apply for a Voter ID Online

Step 1: Visit the official Voters’ Service Portal at https://eci.gov.in/

Step 2: Under the ‘Forms’ section, click on ‘Fill Form 6’ if you are a resident of India or ‘Form 6A’ if you are an NRI. https://voters.eci.gov.in/

Step 3: If you are a new user, click on the ‘Sign-up’ button to register your mobile number and email address. Returning users can log in using their registered credentials.

Step 4: Enter your personal details and upload the required documents, which include:

  • One passport-sized photograph
  • Identity proof (birth certificate, passport, driving license, PAN card, or high school marksheet)
  • Address proof (ration card, passport, driving license, or utility bill)

Step 5: Click on ‘Submit’ to complete your online application.

Step 6: You will receive a confirmation email with a link to track the status of your voter ID card application. Your Voter ID card should arrive within a month of submitting the application.

Eligibility for Applying To Voter’s ID card:

  1. Citizenship: You must be an Indian citizen.
  2. Age: You must be at least 18 years old.
  3. Permanent Address: You must have a permanent address in India.

Who Can’t Register:

  1. Unsound Mind: If you’ve been declared of unsound mind, you can’t register.
  2. Convicted of Certain Crimes: If you’ve been convicted of certain crimes, you can’t register.
  3. Serving Imprisonment: If you’re serving a sentence of imprisonment for a criminal offense, you can’t register.

Remember, the Voter ID card, also known as the Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC), is a unique 10-digit alphanumeric code issued by the Election Commission of India. It is essential for exercising your right to vote in municipal, state, and national elections.
