How to Find LCM & HCF?

Chess & Math

LCM (Least Common Multiple) and HCF (Highest Common Factor) are mathematical concepts used to find the lowest common multiple and the highest common factor of two or more numbers, respectively.

To find the LCM:

  1. List the multiples of each number.
  2. Find the least multiple that appears in all lists.
  3. That number is the LCM.

To find the HCF:

  1. List the factors of each number.
  2. Find the largest factor that appears in all lists.
  3. That number is the HCF.

Note: Another common method to find the HCF is to use the Euclidean algorithm, which is a step-by-step process of dividing the larger number by the smaller number until the remainder is 0. The last non-zero remainder is the HCF.
